5 Tips Make Sure You Are Dieting Safely

Diets- How safe are they?

Diets are everywhere. New diet fads spring up every year.  You'll find high-protein diets, low-fat diets, all-vegetable diets, no-pasta diets, etc. However it is important to figure out what's healthy and what isn't...

Don't feel pressured to lose weight and try different types of diets. To lose weight one needs to improve eating habits and exercise.

Why do people Diet?

People diet for various reasons. Some diet to cut down weight, some play sports and want to be in top physical condition. There are others who may feel they would look and feel better if they lost a few pounds. Some teens may diet because they want to look like a certain model, actor, or actress who is thin.

Unhealthy dieting

Any diet which makes you eat fewer calories than you need to get through the day is dangerous. Diets that allow no fat can also be bad for you. Certain amount of fat in your diet is important. Although a low-fat diet may be ok, avoid eating a diet completely free of fat.

Some diets restrict certain food groups which is unhealthy. A diet that says no to breads or pastas, or allows you to eat only fruit is not healthy. The required vitamins and minerals would not be gained and although you may lose weight, you'll probably gain it back the day you start eating in your usual way.

Eating too little to maintain a healthy weight (anorexia) or eating only to throw up the calories (bulimia) are eating disorders, which are harmful to a person's health.

How Can I diet Safely?

The word diet means restricting calories or certain food groups. Dieting can become dangerous because you may not get the right kinds and amounts of nutrients, which can lead to poor growth and other health problems. It is important that your diet includes eating a wide variety of enough food to meet your body's needs. You should cut back on meats high in fat (like burgers and hot dogs) and eat more fruits and vegetables.  You also need to drink more water instead of sugary drinks like sports drinks or sodas.

Just exercising more and eating healthy foods helps one stay in shape and achieve a healthy weight. But if you are concerned about your body's size or think you need to lose weight, talk with your doctor or a registered dietitian. A dietitian may reassure you that your weight is healthy. Or if you are overweight, he she can sit down with you and determine a healthy way for you to reach the perfect weight.

An unhealthy diet control can consume your life. By accepting your body and making healthy choices, you'll keep your weight under control and enjoy life.

Acid Reflux Treatment: Less Is More

Before you set up a doctor’s appointment and start taking the latest fad acid reflux treatment drug, take some time to consider another approach to regaining optimal health. Not only have the latest heartburn drugs not been tested thoroughly or for a long enough period of time to be deemed completely safe, but there are simpler ways to heal the body. The first principle I’d like to discuss is that of trust. The body is fully capable of healing itself if given half a chance.  When we fill it up with chemicals, dyes and sugar we’re only making it more difficult for it to do its job. When we trust our bodies to do what is in their nature to do for us, we can let go and focus our energies on other things.  The human body is a masterpiece that has been fine tuned for survival over millions and millions of years. All we have to do to keep it in tip tp shape is provide it with a few basic things. Our bodies needs sleep as well as clean air, water and food.  In times of personal ...

The Search For An Acne Cure

Many of us have lived through it as teenagers and young adults...ACNE...the dreaded red pimples that always seem to multiply at the absolute worst times!  Before you run out and spend alot of money on over-the-counter and prescription drugs, let's take a look at some natural  methods of reducing acne... Here are some tips:  Reduce your stress level.  Stress can cause acne.  By reducing your stress levels,   you can reduce your chances of acne outbreaks.  Try doing yoga or any other relaxing  techniques.  It may not be an acne cure, but reducing stress will improve your general health. 1. Don't wash your face too much. Some people think that washing your face often will reduce the risk of getting acne.  This is not the case.  Washing your face too much can actually dry out your skin, leading to acne.  When you do wash your face use only oil-free products. 2. Be wary of cosmetics and hair products....

My Experience With Acid Reflux Disease

Acid Reflux Disease is not as ominous as it sounds, unless you are indeed a chronic sufferer that’s only recently found it necessary to try every over the counter heartburn product available. For many people what started as little bouts of heartburn every now and then, grows into more frequent trips to the drug store and before you know it you’re making an appointment with a doctor because you just don’t know what t do next. Sound familiar? I’ve dealt with heartburn or ‘acid reflux disease’ for most of my adult life. I had made it to the end of the line, as far as my peace of mind and pain tolerance were concerned. Something had to change. And I needed some guidance about how and what to change. So I went to a doctor appointment and was given a prescription. It kind of worked, but not for long and I soon found myself making another appointment with a different doctor. I was given a prescription for a different medicine. It sort of worked for a while and then didn’t. Are you seeing the ...
